Power Plays Weekly Roundup
March 21, 2025

The market is in a tricky situation because there are a lot of valid questions about the economy, plus we are headed into a week of big economic news (PCE Price Index, GDP, etc.).

And of course the big April 2 tariff headline looms overhead.

The challenge in this market is there is no real follow-through.

The moves are fast, and they revert back just as fast.

That's why I've been leaning towards special situations and "non-market" names that don't necessarily the entire market to rally. Nvidia (NVDA) and DoorDash (DASH) are exceptions to that, because they are clear market leaders.

Still, it's been tough out there so I'm treading carefully.

Now is a time to have more cash so you have powder dry for buys into weakness.

Ultimately, I do not think the 2025 lows are in.

That doesn't mean we collapse right here and now, but the market is going to have a bigger dip at some point.

The average SPX pullback is 14%, and it's been a long time since we had one of those.

Keep that in mind as you size positions and assess your overall market exposure.

Now let's talk about our current names.

Alibaba (BABA) looked fantastic last week, but it's since been struggling a bit. It needs to hold $134 to keep potential for a big upside move. I'm going to adjust the danger zone for us to $126 to $132. If it breaks down there, it will be stuck in the mud all over again.

DoorDash (DASH) is still one of my favorite names in the market. We took off half yesterday to lock in a gain. Should the market stabilize, this should lead nicely. I'd only buy on dips though.

Nvidia (NVDA): the semis look better than broader tech, so I added NVDA to Power Plays yesterday. Also note I'm adjusting the danger zone here to the $108 to $114 area. The overall setup looks good - but we can't ignore broader market risks.

AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) has been roughed up a bit, and I want to give it more room. So I'm adjusting the danger zone down to the $20.75 to $22 area. The pattern remains intact though.

Have a great weekend.
