Power Plays Weekly Roundup
March 1, 2024
By Scott Redler
We're closing out another interesting week.
The big theme has been rotation.
Every time it feels like the market is about to slide, something steps in.
This week it was the small caps, bios, and cryptos, with semis surging on Thursday and Friday.
This is why we need to keep looking for setups.
If you're too focused on predicting crashes, you miss every moneymaking opportunity out there.
So we'll try to be safe, but aggressive at the right times.
From an overall strategy perspective, I am trimming and trailing names into the strength because we have come a long way this year already.
Now let's go through our names.
SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) has been frustrating to say the least. But it finally looks like it's making a move so I'd like to see the current momentum continue. If you're brand new to Power Plays I'd take a look at GLD here.
Occidental Petroleum (OXY): we added OXY to Power Plays a few weeks ago to benefit from a possible rotation into energy. It's been grinding up nicely and looks good.
On Holdings (ONON): this name has come up faster than I expected so we've trimmed twice already. We'll let the rest ride for now. Earnings are late in the month.
Morgan Stanley (MS): I added this last week as I've been thinking it could play catchup to some of the other financials like Goldman Sachs (GS) and JP Morgan (JPM). It's hanging tight for now.
Have a great weekend!
