Power Plays Options Weekly
Roundup
August 15, 2025
The market absorbed a lot of complicated headlines including the hot PPI where SPY and QQQ held the 8-day which continues to support this trend.
Decent move in IWM this week, but it’s not the easiest sector to trust.
IWM needs to hold the 226 area otherwise it might get rid of the active players.
It’s a very specific trade where money seems to rotate, gotta be in the right place at the right time and that’s our job.
Now let’s dig into our current names:
BABA 8/22 $122 Calls: BABA is definitely tricky, I’m glad we were able to take ⅓ off. Going to need a little help from earnings for this to work for us, not looking great.
GOOGL 8/22 $202.50 Calls: GOOGL has been really good to us. Just cleared a new level above $204.50, I’d like to hold onto this last 1/3 for it to get above the all-time high of $207.
HOOD 9/19 $115 Calls: HOOD had a decent pullback but held where it had to and is perky back above $110. Would love to see an S&P 500 inclusion announcement to get it back above $120, that’s why we are holding the last 1/3.
UVXY 9/19 $22 Calls: I’m glad we took a portion of profits off into that volatility a week or so ago. We are still holding this as a hedge. If this does not work, that means markets are behaving well and all our other plays should be working.
XLE 9/19 $88 Calls: XLE is one of the laggards out there that I’m thinking could get a rotation at some point. We are anticipating a move but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.
GRAB 8/22 $6 Calls: GRAB is a leftover play that didn’t act well on earnings but is back above $5. Could be a surprising win for us, we’ll see how it goes.
Have a good weekend.

About Power Plays Options
Thank you for joining Scott's first dedicated options service as one of our charter members.
Since PPO is an all-new service, we may adjust some aspects of the format and content in the coming weeks. But, the focus will remain on providing high quality ideas for you to consider.
Depending upon the name, Scott may not introduce a specific exit plan at the time of idea initiation. This is because options prices can move so far so fast, and Scott prioritizes flexibility.
However, if Power Plays removes an options idea (whether it's up or down), Scott will notify you with an alert.
