Power Plays Options Weekly
Roundup
July 25, 2025

The market continues to show impressive resilience, reminding us of an important lesson: we can't ever get too bearish if the SPX is trending above the 8 day moving average.

Because we just saw record highs in the SPX & QQQ's, plus plenty of individual names.

The tricky thing is that we've had a pretty impressive surge since June, right into a super busy week.

Next week is packed.

We have US GDP, PCE, FOMC, NFP, and it’s the heart of earnings season highlighted by Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Meta (META), and Microsoft (MSFT).

Earnings season has been better-than-expected, but there's been little follow-though for individual stocks after reports.

So, know what you own, your time frame, and be prepared with multiple plans. It’s been hard to find big money plays after a great few months, so there’s no need to be a hero.

That means while I'm always on the lookout for opportunities, I'm looking to manage my risk and size carefully.

Now let’s talk about our current names:

AAPL 8/1 $215 Calls: we rolled up into these calls for a run into the earnings report next week. I'm still an Apple fan.

XBI 8/8 $90 Calls: biotech could still be ripe to receive flows from sector rotation, but there's been no follow-through just yet.

BIDU 8/15 $95 Calls: this stock has been a big volatile and unfortunately, it lost its quick gains from when we added. Still, we have plenty of time to expiration.

GRAB 8/22 $6 Calls: this name has been stuck a bit so we are down on these calls. We'll let them ride for now.

SPY 7/25 $618 Puts: I added these puts as a hedge against a potential short-term downturn. Since the market has held up remarkably well, these will expire worthless today.

SMCI 8/1 $52 Calls: Super Micro has been a beneficiary of the resurgent AI trade, so I'm glad we positioned in. There is potential for the stock to give one more pop so we're sticking with our last 1/3.

Have an awesome weekend!

About Power Plays Options

Thank you for joining Scott's first dedicated options service as one of our charter members.

Since PPO is an all-new service, we may adjust some aspects of the format and content in the coming weeks. But, the focus will remain on providing high quality ideas for you to consider.

Depending upon the name, Scott may not introduce a specific exit plan at the time of idea initiation. This is because options prices can move so far so fast, and Scott prioritizes flexibility.

However, if Power Plays removes an options idea (whether it's up or down), Scott will notify you with an alert.
