Power Plays Options Weekly Roundup
February 14, 2025

By Scott Redler

This was a great week for Power Plays Options thanks to our big bet on China.

Last week, I told you Alibaba (BABA) was on the radar again after being our best name ever.

Now I did pass up going back to BABA (big mistake), but thankfully, we engaged China names Baidu (BIDU) and PDD Holdings (PDD) for nice gains. And both look like they can stretch further to the upside.

Overall, the big message of the market this week was respect the price action.

The bulls saw hot CPI & PPI reports and said "we don't care."

And here we are with the SPX closing out the week at record highs as the market looks to better times ahead.

You could spend years arguing why... but why not just trade the price action in front of you?

BIDU 2/28 $95 Calls: we added BIDU on Tuesday and it's been beautiful since then. It got a big boost today on tariff news, which sent China names up hard.

DASH 2/21 $202.50 X $215 Call Spread: this position went from loser after earnings to solid winner today. Dip buyers came in aggressively and I wish we'd loaded up on calls on the post-earnings decline. We are down to 1/2.

PDD 2/28 $120 Call: I added PDD Monday as it looked like the next China name to go, and we booked gains both Thursday and today. We are down to 1/3 which we'll trail for now.

NIO 3/7 $5 Calls: this is a super-speculative EV position I added two weeks ago. Today, it woke up on the tariff news, but it drifted back lower. We'll let it ride for now.

MSOS 6/20 $4 Calls: this ETF can be super tricky to trade, but tends to have violent rallies a few times a year. So far it hasn't done anything, but we have until June for this to work.

Have a wonderful weekend!

About Power Plays Options

Thank you for joining Scott's first dedicated options service as one of our charter members.

Since PPO is an all-new service, we may adjust some aspects of the format and content in the coming weeks. But, the focus will remain on providing high quality ideas for you to consider.

Depending upon the name, Scott may not introduce a specific exit plan at the time of idea initiation. This is because options prices can move so far so fast, and Scott prioritizes flexibility.

However, if Power Plays removes an options idea (whether it's up or down), Scott will notify you with an alert.
