Key Week<\/span><\/h2>\n

This will be a major week for traders between the first Fed meeting of 2024, big tech earnings, and the January jobs report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Things kickoff with the December Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) plus January consumer confidence on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mega-cap tech companies also begin reporting earnings on Tuesday with <\/span>Microsoft <\/b>(MSFT), <\/span>Alphabet <\/b>(GOOGL), and <\/span>Advanced Micro Devices <\/b>(AMD) scheduled to report after the close.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, traders will get ADP\u2019s private employment report ahead of the open with the Fed rate decision and press conference at 2:00 p.m. ET.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday is another big earnings day with <\/span>Apple <\/b>(AAPL), <\/span>Amazon <\/b>(AMZN), and <\/span>Meta Platforms <\/b>(META) after-hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday morning, the Labor Department releases the official January jobs report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yields Fall<\/span><\/h2>\n

Treasury yields are lower this morning ahead of this week\u2019s Fed meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 10-year yield is down four basis points at 4.10%.<\/span><\/p>\n

The central bank is expected to leave interest rates unchanged on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But focus will be on the statement\u2019s language about future rate cuts and on what Fed Chair Jerome Powell says about cuts in his press conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CME Group\u2019s FedWatch Tool shows just under 49% of traders anticipating the first cut at the March 20 meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 50% are betting on a cut at the May 1 meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

iRobot Tumbles After Amazon Dumps Deal<\/span><\/h2>\n

iRobot <\/b>(IRBT) shares are plunging 18.7% ahead of the open after <\/span>Amazon <\/b>(AMZN) terminated its planned acquisition of the vacuum-maker.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The two companies said there was \u201cno path to regulatory approval for the deal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

iRobot also announced it will lay off 31% of its employees, impacting around 350 people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Its CEO and board chair also stepped down effective immediately.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
