400;\">Let\u2019s get right to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another Hot Inflation Reading<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Fed\u2019s preferred inflation gauge rose more than expected in January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bureau of Economic Analysis\u2019 personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 0.6% monthly and 5.4% year over year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The core PCE price index, which excludes food and energy, jumped 0.6% monthly and 4.7% annually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That was hotter than economists\u2019 expectations for the index to rise 0.5% monthly and 4.4% annually.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The data showed inflation heating up at the start of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumer spending also jumped 1.8% as prices rose vs 1.4% expected.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Personal income rose 1.4% vs the 1.2% estimate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And the personal saving rate increased to 4.7%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More traders are starting to believe the Fed will vote for a 50 basis point rate hike at the next meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CME Group\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmegroup.com\/markets\/interest-rates\/cme-fedwatch-tool.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FedWatch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tool now shows 67% expecting another 25 basis point move and 33% expecting a 50bp hike.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Block Rallies On Strong Outlook<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Block <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(SQ) shares are up 5.5% ahead of the open after topping Q4 revenue expectations and issuing strong guidance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how the payments company\u2019s results compared to analysts\u2019 expectations:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjusted EPS: $0.22 vs $0.30 expected<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenue: $4.65 billion vs $4.61 billion expected<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company posted $1.66 billion style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nikola Drops After Reporting Weak Q4 Sales<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Nikola <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(NKLA) shares are falling 2.3% in premarket trade after sharply missing Q4 sales expectations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how the electric truck maker\u2019s results compared to analysts\u2019 expectations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjusted loss per share: $0.37 vs $0.43 expected<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenue: $6.6 million vs $32.1 million expected<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The revenue Dimon told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/02\/23\/jamie-dimon-says-the-federal-reserve-has-lost-a-little-bit-of-control-of-inflation-.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Thursday, \u201cthe fact is we lost a little bit of control of inflation.\u201d He said it may take \u201ca while\u201d for the Fed to get inflation down to its goal of 2% and he expects interest rates to remain higher for longer.
