{"id":66376,"date":"2023-02-21T09:08:37","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T14:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.t3live.com\/?p=66376"},"modified":"2023-02-21T09:08:37","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T14:08:37","slug":"coffee-with-greta-traders-on-edge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.t3live.com\/2023\/02\/21\/coffee-with-greta-traders-on-edge\/","title":{"rendered":"Coffee With Greta: Traders On Edge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>DJIA Futures: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-339 (-1%)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SPX Futures: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-39 (-0.9%)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>NASDAQ Futures: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-149 (-1.2%)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good morning friends!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Futures are falling as traders remain on edge about inflation and digest some disappointing corporate guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s get right to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yields Climb As New Week Kicks Off<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Treasury yields are climbing this morning as a new week kicks off with traders worried about inflation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2-year yield is up 6 basis points to 4.69% while the 10-year yield is up 8 basis points to 3.90%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The market will get more details on the Fed\u2019s latest meeting and future plans later this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The central bank is set to release the minutes of its February 1 meeting on Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Fed\u2019s favorite inflation gauge, the PCE price index, will also come out on Friday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That data comes after both the CPI and PPI rose more than expected in January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walmart Slides On Weak Outlook<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Walmart <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(WMT) shares are falling 2.7% in premarket trade after beating Q4 expectations but issuing weak guidance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s how the retailer\u2019s results compared to analysts\u2019 estimates:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjusted EPS: $1.71 vs $1.51 expected<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenue: $164.05 billion vs $159.72 billion expected<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenue rose 7.3% year over year while same-store sales in the U.S. jumped 8.3%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walmart also made progress on getting rid of inventory with levels roughly flat compared to a year ago and down 3% in the U.S.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the company issued soft guidance as it expects inflation to continue pressuring consumers this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walmart forecast full-year adjusted EPS between $5.90 and $6.05 vs analysts\u2019 estimates of $6.53.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CEO said, \u201cIf you look at economic indicators, balance sheets are running thinner and savings rates are declining relative to previous periods.
