get right to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snap Plummets on Disappointing Q2<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Snap <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(SNAP) shares are plunging 31.8% in premarket trade after reporting disappointing Q2 results and announcing plans to slow hiring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The social media company reported an adjusted loss of $0.02 per share on $1.11 billion in revenue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That was worse than analysts\u2019 expectations for an adjusted loss of $0.01 per share on $1.14 billion in revenue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snap had 347 million global daily active users last quarter vs. expectations for 344.2 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the company declined to provide Q3 guidance saying, \u201cforward-looking visibility remains incredibly challenging\u201d and revenue so far this quarter is \u201capproximately flat\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snap attributed the disappointing results to slowing demand for online ads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company said, \u201cbusinesses are reassessing investment levels amid the rising cost of capital, which is further reflected in campaign budgets and the level of bids per action.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snap said it will \u201csubstantially slow\u201d hiring and the rate of operating expense growth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CEO and Chief Technology Officer agreed to new employment contracts that keep them on board until at least January 400;\">(TWTR) shares are down 2.1% ahead of the open after missing Q2 expectations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The social media giant reported an adjusted loss of $0.08 per share on $1.18 billion in revenue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That sharply missed analysts\u2019 expectations for earnings of $0.14 per share on $1.32 billion in revenue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twitter said it had 237.8 million monetizable daily active users in the quarter, short of analysts\u2019 estimates for 238.08 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenue was down 1% year-over-year, which Twitter blamed on headwinds in the ad industry and\u00a0 \u201cuncertainty related to the pending acquisition of Twitter by an affiliate of Elon Musk.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company did not provide Q3 guidance due to that pending acquisition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twitter said it had $33 million in costs related to the acquisition last quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coinbase Pushes Back On SEC<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Coinbase <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(COIN) is denying claims from the SEC that it offers unregistered securities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A former Coinbase product manager, and two others, were charged by the regulator on Thursday with wire fraud in connection with an insider trading scheme involving cryptocurrencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SEC accused them of plotting to profit from the listing of new tokens on Coinbase before they were announced publicly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agency also accused Coinbase of hosting unregulated securities on its platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a separate complaint, the SEC claimed that nine of the 25 tokens allegedly part of the insider trading scheme were securities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a blog <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coinbase.com\/coinbase-does-not-list-securities-end-of-story-e58dc873be79\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Coinbase\u2019s Chief Legal Officer said, \u201cCoinbase does not list securities on its platform. Period.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said, \u201cCoinbase has a rigorous process to analyze and review each digital asset before making it available on our exchange \u2014 a process that the SEC itself has reviewed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The case opens the door to the SEC forcing Coinbase to classify some of the crypto it offers as regulated financial instruments.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oil Prices Extend Drop<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oil prices are sliding again today amid lower demand in the U.S. during the peak summer driving season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">West Texas Intermediate crude futures are down 0.9% to under $96 bbl while Brent crude futures are down 0.5% to under $104 bbl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Energy Information Administration\u2019s four-week average for gasoline demand was basically unchanged last week at 8.73 million barrels per day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s lower than a year ago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Excluding 2020, when the pandemic destroyed demand, it\u2019s also lower than every year going back to 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gas Prices Extend Slide<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. gas prices fell for the 37th day in a row today as demand remains low.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shows the national average for regular gas fell nearly 3 cents overnight to $4.413\/gal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The national average for diesel also fell more than 2 cents overnight to $5.455\/gal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Case You Missed It<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rivian <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(RIVN) shares rallied 4.3% on Thursday as <\/span><b>Amazon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(AMZN) kicked off deliveries using the company\u2019s electric vans.
