1) Disney for Twitter? Seriously?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Twitter<\/strong> (TWTR) shares got a huge lift on record options volume<\/a><\/strong><\/span> Friday on rumors that the company could be acquired by Google <\/strong>(GOOGL) or Salesforce.com<\/strong> (CRM).<\/p>\n

Today, a host of analysts and commentators threw water on the rumors, and the stock was even downgraded by Oppenheimer, driving some profit-taking.<\/p>\n

But this afternoon, Bloomberg reported that Disney <\/strong>(DIS) is working with an adviser on a potential Twitter bid, sending the stock up all over again.<\/p>\n

Presumably, Twitter\u2019s real-time news and data feeds could be integrated into Disney media properties like ABC and ESPN.<\/p>\n

However, a T3 Twitter poll indicates that trader still think Google <\/strong>(GOOGL) is the most likely buyer, assuming it happens at all:<\/p>\n

2) Bank Scare Drives Downside<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

German Chancellor Angela Merkel ruled out state assistance for\u00a0Deutsche Bank<\/strong>\u00a0(DB) before next year's national election, which hit the stock hard. Deutsche has been fined $14 billion by the US Department of Justice for its mortgage-backed securities practices, which could cause liquidity problems for the bank.<\/p>\n

That sent European equities down this morning, setting the tone for the US.<\/p>\n

The S&P 500<\/strong> fell -0.9% to 2146.10, with the Nasdaq<\/strong> Composite<\/strong> and Russell 2000<\/strong> making similar moves.<\/p>\n

US bank stocks led the decliners\u2019 column, following their European counterparts.<\/p>\n

Gold mining stocks fell after precious metals slipped in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

On the plus side, crude oil and energy stocks pushed higher on continued chatter about a possible OPEC output freeze.<\/p>\n

3) Trump vs. Clinton<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The first Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will be held tonight.<\/p>\n

Aside from the general market fallout, traders will especially be interested in how health care and drug stocks perform tomorrow.<\/p>\n

One major reason\u00a0biotech<\/strong>\u00a0(IBB) has rallied in recent weeks was Hillary Clinton\u2019s pneumonia diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Since she has been an outspoken critic of rising drug prices \u2014 specifically targeting\u00a0Mylan\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0(MYL) Epipen \u2014 she is seen as an enemy of biotech and big pharma.<\/p>\n

Her illness boosted Trump in the polls, which in turn gave biotech a reprieve.<\/p>\n

So if Clinton scores a clear victory, drug and biotech stocks are likely to fall.<\/p>\n

And obviously, the reverse is likely to be true if Trump wins.<\/p>\n
